Dear Editor: I am one of 104 Saint Lucian crew members who are on a vessel with the objective of getting us home.
We are amongst other nationalities whose countries are allowing them home, however, we are not entirely sure where we stand.
At present, I’m of the knowledge that this ship will be heading to St. Vincent to reunite some of our co-workers with their families. Saint Lucia and St. Vincent are neighbouring islands, and we’d also like to be home with our families.
I understand that we need to be quarantined and it’s not an issue, especially after being quarantined for over a month when there are no cases of the virus here. Over a month here with no cases.
I’m reaching out to the prime minister of Saint Lucia and the minister of foreign affairs, please, in a time like this, consider the nationals. We want to come home.
