A post mortem examination on the body of popular Laborie resident Darius Jn Baptiste aka Apricot, has revealed that he died of a stroke.
Jn Baptiste, 50, was a beloved fisherman and painter in the community.
Fellow workers found his lifeless and nude body, face down, at the back of his residence on the evening of Monday, May 8. It is believed that Jn Baptiste collapsed as he was about to take a shower.
According to the post mortem, which was conducted on Tuesday, May 9, Jn Bapiste died as a result of “cerebral oedema secondary to right temporal hemorrhagic cerebrovascular accident in a hypertensive emergency”.
A medical professional told St. Lucia News Online that this means that “increased blood pressure caused bleeding in Jn Baptiste’s brain which increased pressure inside the head” resulting in what is commonly known as a stroke.
