Update on serious accident in Laborie

At least seven people were injured in a two-vehicle accident on the Laborie Highway on Saturday, Sept. 27.

The accident, which occurred around 10:4 5 p.m., involved a rented four-door Diahtsu Terios (PG390) driven by Michel Tranquil, a St. Lucian who resides in Martinique, and a Toyota Altezza (PB9547) driven by Jade Jn Baptiste.

The Diahtsu was reportedly heading in the direction of Vieux Fort, while the Altezza was in the opposite direction. The Altezza careened off the road over an embankment.

Occupants of both vehicles sustained multiple injuries, which included a broken nose, fractures, and abrasions. They were transported to St. Jude Hospital where six persons were treated and discharged and one – Joel Paul, 18, who was in the Altezza – was admitted for a fractured skull.
